Online resources and suggestions for students at home

When working at home, we recommend that students follow their normal timetable for the day and that they aim to spend no more than an hour on each subject. Students can also make sure that they are up-to-date with all their homework – this can be reviewed through SatchelOne (either through the APP or online: https://www.satchelone.com/

1. General resources

Oak Academy

Go to the ‘Classroom’ section of the website and there are thousands of free video lessons, resources and activities. Just choose the relevant Key Stage (Key Stage 2 for Years 5 and 6; Key Stage 3 for Years 7 & 8) and you will find all subjects

a) English

ReadTheory: https://readtheory.org/auth/login

ReadTheory is the online Reading Comprehension website we use. Students usually complete 2-4 reading comprehension challenges per week. They can do as many as they like – there is nothing to print off as texts can be read online – comprehension questions are also answered online.

b) Maths

All students have a log-in to mymaths and there are challenges set regularly for them by their Maths teachers – there are also a number of Maths games which can also be used.

c) Science

There are lots of activities to do: reading, quizzes and interactive art tasks. There are also lots of ideas for practical activities.

f) ICT

KS2: https://lightbot.lu/ - Simple programming website for beginner programmers

KS3: https://www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-python - Students should only attempt the first hour as this is a 25-hour course. Use help option to support learning.

g) History

Horrible Histories are always a fun way to explore different aspects of History:

3D Geography is a great source of information on all your favourite Geography topics:
